But what if I want this T28?

Maybe after buying what I found you can go to a military equipment swap meet and bargain your way to your tracked dreams.

And approximately zero engines, it seems?

There are a lot of these still flying. I imagine you could get a few of these airworthy and scavenge the rest. I would think the CAF or another Warbird organization would buy these.

“Projects with tons of spares.” I didn’t read closely. Was that $228,000 for the lot, or each? Also looked like at least two different locations in those photos.

Dang, the T-28 isn’t the best looking airplane, but it has good flying qualities and reasonable payload.

They also have a 10 for $180,000 deal as well.

That probably isn’t a bad deal either...

But no engines. LS swap, perhaps?

It won’t fly nearly as high.

It’s for the whole lot. You can also cherry pick the 10 best for $180,000.

If you have the space and ability to do something with them it’s a damn good price. You could probably part them out and make a decent profit over time if nothing else. I just wonder if that was the initial plan and something came up to stop them.

I wonder if one of the fighter pilot for a weekend type businesses would be interested.

Why fly when you can just drive over/through everything? Infinitely more practical for when you need to get to work.

Well, I’m an aerospace engineer with 20 years experience repairing aircraft and systems and I know a few hundred mechanics.  Don’t quite have $180k sitting around.

I’m an A&P myself. We could work a “will repair for flight time” deal.

But worse gas mileage.

That would be perfect!

Sadly it would probably bust the budget to buy up HMS Hermes/INS Viraat as well so that you could start/end on a carrier (probably also increase your piloting costs to get carrier rated people).
